Scripture -
The Word, sung and read, received from generation to generation…

3 Trust in the LORD, and do good;
so you will live in the land, and enjoy security.
4 Take delight in the LORD,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD;
trust in him, and he will act.
6 He will make your vindication shine like the light,
    and the justice of your cause like the noonday.
7 Be still before the LORD, and wait patiently for him;
8 Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath.
    Do not fret—it leads only to evil.
11 The meek shall inherit the land,
    and delight themselves in abundant prosperity.
Psalm 37: 3-11, 39-40    (NRSV)

Our Prayer...Remembering the archivists

Lord of past, present and future,
Your Word comes to us in so many ways.
We particularly thank those
who have recorded your Word and Way of Being
Through writing, art, symbol, music and song.
We receive the treasures of your Word through faithful people.
Yet, we do not always honour those who have collected and collated,
Creating ways these treasures may be handed down through the ages.
These treasures remind us that our human story
seems to be repeated over and over again.
Your constancy of love, faith, strength and renewal
Is heard when first declared
and kept for us to hear again.
Blessings that come to every age. Amen
Rev Anne Hewitt, Executive Officer/Ecumenical Facilitator, SA Council of Churches

The Prayer of Dedication from the service at Pilgrim UCA from the archivists and helpers, historians and record keepers, professionals and volunteers, who dedicate their service for the coming year:

We offer ourselves in service as archivists and historians, record keepers and helpers that we will perform our tasks with your help.
Inspire us to give thanks for all precious memories and show us how to be faithful keepers and tellers of our stories.
May we be diligent; may we be cheerful; may we be generous of our time, our skills and our resources.
May we work together to share our knowledge openly and joyfully, while handling records that are able to hurt or heal with sensitivity and compassion.
With God’s help we will work faithfully in our different institutions. Amen

Act for Peace News
Conservation farming is something that has become important in Australia as we face a drought.
In Zimbabwe it is even more important and our support for our partners in the Zimbabwe Council of Churches enables them to operate their own Conservation Farming Program. The program provides training in techniques for spacing, planting and mulching crops, as well as building filtration pits. The team also distributes seeds amongst the first year farmers. This all helps  marginalised families to move from  dependance on food aid to becoming self supporting and growing food for themselves and others.
